Car Photography đźš—

Something that has come recently into my topics of photography is the car culture, some of you might know this and others not, it's okay.

It is a small culture within the car world where people modify their cars to look aesthetically pleasing and have car meets where they park up their cars and chill with other people that is apart of the culture, it all started when my older sister got her car and started going out with friends. At first I thought it was weird but it wasn't until one of my college friends started posting his photography work at the car meets he was going to and I was amazed!

So next thing I did was ask my sister if I could take pictures of her car, posted a few under the hashtags she gave me, that she uses for her car instagram account (you can make an instagram about anything these days!) and not long I had people that was interested in my pictures and following me. I have only took pictures of my sister and friends car but hopefully more will be soon when she invites me to a car meet... Which will be an experience but for now I'm just a personal photographer to my sister.

By taking some inspiration from my friends car photography, I started to see how they took pictures and tried to mimic their technique as well as putting a personal touch to my own.

First set of pictures below are of my friends work and how he takes pictures of cars, the way I see his pictures are very editorial and look like they can be seen in a magazine, advertisement or even promoting the car brand itself as I studied these images I looked for how he edited the images and what drew people in and to his page (instagram d97oxl or d97oxl.photography)

The pictures below was my first attempt at doing some car photography

The last few images are my own work and after studying my friends images this was my final outcome. Now I know my images don't look nearly as good as his but it's something similar (and yes I am still working on how to blur out the number plate) but this is definitely something new and somewhat out of my comfort zone... as I am used to photographing animals, objects and the occasional person. I will continue to do car shoots as I'm finding them interesting and it gives me a change to experiment a little, so I am looking forward to more shoots like these.
