Hello again, sorry for not updating my posts I haven't really been active in taking some pictures. That is until now, I was getting quiet in my work and I didn't really have many clients that have booked shoots but I was scrolling on instagram and came across this account which I have seen before, its the Be a photographer account where they post photo challenges each week.

So I checked it out and saw that the first challenge had been posted, it was 'Self Portrait' for many photographers this is a nightmare, as so many of us are camera shy and we prefer to photograph a subject other than ourselves but the more I was looking into this tag on instagram the more I was interested in what other peoples views where on Self Portrait, others took the more standard route (like my self) with a slight profile shot with some unusual lighting. However some people took it to the next level that also made me rethink my images 😅 saying that it made me think that I need to stop thinking about being so literal with my images and looking for that new angle, experiment with lighting, textures and colours.

Here are some of the many pictures under the challenge hashtag
I am happy with the pictures that I took for the first challenge but I realised that I was reverting into my comfort zone, doing what I felt comfortable doing; not always a bad thing (it didn't help that I spontaneously done this challenge at 11pm and feeling very tired) I also want to point out that I didn't really plan out this shoot very well and again it was spontaneous and I quickly was using what was around me...also I don't think my parents would be happy with me jacking up my lights and lighting the stairs like a beacon late at night 😅

But my overall point I am trying to say is that doing these challenges helps an amateur photographer, like my self to get them creative ideas flowing and seeing what approach others take, also it makes someone who is not used to constant photo taking to grab that camera and capture a moment, story or even a hidden narrative. To have fun when taking pictures, playing around with the camera controls, thinking what does that button do and satisfying that curiosity.
I am still waiting on what next weeks topic will be, hoping its something that I haven't done before but we will have to wait... for the mean time if you're new here then feel free to follow my socials and keep up to date of when I post new things!
