Some photographers I look up to

I was thinking about doing this post a little after I posted some more but I am excited about this one. This post is going to be dedicated to the photographers / influencers who do photography that I look up to, now I don't wanna bore you with the whole "when I was a kid..." because it didn't happen like that... 😅

It was one of the options I took as a GCSE in school and it was one that sounded interesting rather than doing fine art...which there is nothing wrong with it but i'm not that great of a drawer. Anyway as I started the subject I just fell in love with the whole idea of aesthetics and what was pleasing to the eye, throughout my work that I showed in school my teacher said that I had an eye for pictures and finding a unique way of capturing the moment.

And I enjoyed the subject so much that I did go onto study it in college, by this point I was exposed to idols and legends in the photography world, just a few of my favrouites are

Richard Avedon, Sally Mann, Gregory Crewdson, William Eggleston and Philip-Lorca Dicorcia

These are the most well known ones but I am also going to be talking about the more modernised ones that are on Instagram and YouTube, the reason why I like these guys is because the way they either take the images, the aesthetic and also how they show their love and passion for the photography world.

The first person that I looked up to was a YouTuber Connor Franta His work not just as a Photographer but as a videographer is so pleasing as it has symmetry and also fits the aesthetic of whatever he is trying to film or take picture of, he also has a book "A work in progress" which I read all in one day and I felt so motivated, inspired and also loved the personal images he used in the book.

My next person that I look up to I stumbled across her channel looking for some tips on some photos that I was struggling to take and also needed some inspiration after watching some of her videos again I felt inspired and also I felt at ease while watching her videos as there was no right or wrong way todo it, as I tend to find in some videos there is this unnecessary pressure on how to take the photo or how to edit it. This other YouTuber Kutovakika her style is definitely apart of the warmer tones in photography in terms of using pastel colours, warm lighting that makes the photo feel warm and inviting.

Lastly on the small list of people I look up to this guy I love his aesthetic and also his use of colour in this pieces, the use of creativity, he is mainly on instagram but he occasionally uploads to youtube. He is most well known for his neon light works which are beautiful in my opinion as well as his dancer shoots and that is Brandon Woelfel

His style of photography really does inspire me as I feel like it is the kind of style I try and aim for or what I want my images to eventually look like. With most of the photographers I have featured in this post most of the range from editing their images in Lightroom, Photoshop or Visco (and probably more but these are the ones that they have spoken about the most within their channels / insta posts.

I think as an amateur photographer it is really important that you have people to look up to and also be inspired by them and not compare their work to your own. As I have done this many of time and it has crushed my creative process but now I am trying to develop my own style as well as trying to grow my instagram and my portfolio, I think by blogging about my creative process helps relieve any 'brain dump' I have and gives me a more clearer view on wanting to take pictures.
